About Me

My name is Jordan Day, I am 19 years old and I have a diagnosis of Asperger's Syndrome. I was diagnosed aged 12.

I completed my GCSE's at a mainstream school in Warwickshire, and moved on after being head hunted for an apprenticeship back in 2016. I successfully gained my Teaching Assistant Level 2 qualification and now work as a 1:1 Teaching Assistant in primary education.

I also work as a 'Support Friend' for ILEAP Charity. I have been working with ILEAP since September 2015. ILEAP are a charity based in Stratford-Upon-Avon who support people with additional needs to access extra curricular / leisure activities.

I work a lot with SpOt Drama, a company ran by Lydia Atherton to bring the creative arts to people who have additional needs. Some of the people I get to work with are very talented actors / actresses who often find paid acting work.

I work with Act for Autism based in Royal Leamington Spa to raise awareness and understanding of autism spectrum conditions. I have spoken at some of their seminars to share some of my personal experiences. I was also very fortunate to be a part of their short film project over Easter 2018. We worked with 12 young autistic students from across Warwickshire to produce a short film called 'Autism Voices'. We had four days of busy filming and workshops to create this film. This film was awarded the 'Light it up blue Award' at the Golden Door International Film Festival in September 2018. Take a look at my diary page learn more about this.

In my freetime I am just like a regular Neurotypical person. I enjoy listening to music, spending time with my friends and family. I also love going on walks (weather dependant!), and love going for long drives in my car, but obviously... I enjoy running my website 'Life with Aspergers'.
